
Because knowledge is crucial in making informed treatment choices, the Community Cancer Center offers a variety of educational resources for cancer patients and their families. The Library at the Community Cancer Center is a one-stop source for information on the cancer continuum and related issues. It is a public library providing informational and educational resources including books, brochures and pamphlets, audio and video tapes, medical journals, medical texts, magazines, a touch screen CancerHelp computer, and Internet access. The Library collection is available to cancer patients and their families and friends, as well as students, health care professionals, and the general public.
The Library is located in the front lobby of the Community Cancer Center.
Our Library Hours:
Monday ‚ Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Library volunteers are available to assist you from 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Over 500 books are available for reference and/or checkout.
Brochures and Pamphlets
Many free brochures and pamphlets from a variety of sources, including the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the National Cancer Institute, and others may be taken home.

Audiotapes and Videotapes
Approximately 100 audiotapes or videos are included in the collection. Cassette players are available to preview tapes or for checkout during treatment. A television with a built in VHS player is located in The Library.
Magazines
Copies of periodicals such as "Coping", "Cure", "MAMM", "Women & Cancer", can be picked up free. Subscriptions to many of these may be ordered at no cost by patients.
CancerHelp
An extremely user-friendly touch screen computer has a wealth of cancer information on it. The database is updated monthly with the latest information from the National Cancer Institute.
Internet Access
A second computer may be used by patrons for accessing the internet.

The materials in the Library are intended to be informative and educational but are in no way a replacement for medical evaluation, advice, diagnosis or treatment by a healthcare professional. Patrons of the Library should not rely exclusively on information found there as cancer care information is constantly evolving. All specific medical questions should be discussed with one's own health care provider.
Checking out & Returning Books and Videos when the Library is not staffed by a volunteer:
Checking out books & videos:
Print your name and phone number on the card found inside the front cover of books or on the case of audio/visual materials then leave the card in the black wire basket on the Library desk. The check-out period is two weeks and a due-date calendar is located on the Library desk.
Returning books or videos:
Place them in the basket on the desk in the Library.
