History & Mission

Our mission is to improve the health status of individuals by

providing comprehensive, community-based cancer care.

In the late 1990's, BroMenn Healthcare and OSF Healthcare came together to create and support a comprehensive cancer center. Opened in 1999, the Center was a result of the generosity of this community as 6.5 million dollars was donated for its creation. Nowhere else in Central Illinois, and rarely across the country, can you get the care of multiple physician specialties, the latest drug therapies, radiation treatment and research protocols with a full complement of support services.

Additionally, the Center houses TomoTherapyTM, Varian IMRT with Respiratory Gating, and the CyberKnife, the 11th facility in the country to house such a life saving radiation therapy. More than 100 volunteers, many of whom are cancer survivors themselves, are well equipped to understand the patient experience and provide thousands of hours of service. The Center is blessed with an oncology social worker, dietitian, nurses and chaplain available to all patients and family members. The Library in the Center is a resource for health professionals, patients and family members. It has hundreds of books covering many cancer-related topics. Weekly support groups are available for both patients and family members.
